Lecture Danica Nikić: Activism and the Female Canon Vera Kopicl, MA
Thursday, 5 June, 7 p.m.
Vera Kopicl, MA
As part of the exhibition programme Danica Nikić (1895–1943): Being a Woman in the Art World, on Thursday, 5 June at 7 p.m., MA Vera Kopicl will give a lecture titled Danica Nikić: Activism and the Female Canon. Danica Nikić’s pedagogical and activist work, aligned with the feminist struggle for the right to education and forming a female cultural elite, overshadowed her standing on the art scene. This artist’s work in the public sphere should be seen not just in the context of interwar Modernism and art practices shaped by the female canon, but also as part of the key turning points in the emancipatory culture of the bourgeoisie in the early 20th-century Novi Sad.
Admission is free.
