ОНЦЕ УПОН А ТИМЕ ИН БЕЛГРАДЕ…ТХЕ WОРЛД ОФ ВИДОСАВА КОВАЧЕВИЋ
Thursday, 12 February 2026, 7 p.m.
Following its premiere at the Grand Gallery of the Central Military Club in Belgrade, the exhibition Once Upon a Time in Belgrade… The World of Vidosava Kovačević will open at The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection on Thursday, 12 February 2026, at 7 p.m. Addresses will be given by Radovan Jokić, acting director of The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection, Siniša Vlajković, a descendant of the Kovačević family, and Igor Borozan PhD, author of the catalogue text. The exhibition presents a retrospective of the painter Vidosava Kovačević (1889–1913), whose artistic career was brief, lasting less than a decade. She left a strong mark on the artistic scene of Belgrade and Serbia in a remarkably short period. Her works provide confirmation of the transitional period in the art of European and Serbian bourgeois Modernism. The exhibition brings together artworks kept at The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection, the National Museum of Serbia, the Belgrade City Museum, the Gallery of Matica Srpska, the National Museum in Valjevo, the Art Gallery “Nadežda Petrović” in Čačak, the Kovačević family heirs, and private collectors.
The exhibition was made possible by the Provincial Secretariat for Culture, Public Information, and Religious Affairs, and the Globos Insurance. The curatorial work of Jasmina Jakšić Subić, senior curator at The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection, was carried out in close collaboration with Siniša Vlajković, an heir to the Kovačević family, and numerous other associates. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue featuring an article by Prof. Igor Borozan PhD, published by “Odbrana” Media Centre. The exhibition design was entrusted to Aleksandra Rešnjak Pešić, while the catalogue design was created by Veljko Damjanović. Admission is free.
