As part of the accompanying programme of the exhibition Once Upon a Time in Belgrade… The World of Vidosava Kovačević, Jelena Sekulović, museum advisor at the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, will give a lecture on ethnography in Vidosava Kovačević’s milieu on Thursday, 16th April 2026, at 7 p.m.
Milan Rakić’s wife Milica lived in Kosovo during his tenure as Serbian consul in Priština (1908–1911), and on several occasions they were joined by her younger sister, the painter Vidosava. From Kosovo, the Kovačević sisters brought back pieces of traditional clothing, embroidery patterns, various objects. In their Belgrade family home, these items became part of the bourgeois interior.
