Altruism and dedication to the community are defining traits of the Novi Sad artist and educator Danica Nikić. Since the First World War started, she and her sister Ankica tended to the wounded. From 1927, she taught at the Public Civil School for Girls and was actively involved in the Novi Sad and Yugoslavian charitable organisations. By personal choice, her painting was secondary to her work in education and humanitarian efforts.
