October 2025 - 2026
As part of the educational series for preschool children titled “Kindergarten Curator”, The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection is starting a project “Liza Križanić: Rainbow in Seven Colours”. This event at the museum is organized for the children from the “Radosno detinjstvo” kindergartens in Novi Sad.
This year, the educational programme for young children will focus on one of the seven female artists in the Pavle Beljanski Collection, Liza Križanić (1905–1982), marking the 115th anniversary of the painter’s birth. In 1983, the renowned writer Desanka Maksimović, Liza’s closest friend, recorded a thought about her, which has become the motto of our programme: “In the sky of our painting, she appeared like a rainbow with all seven colours and their halos above her native Kosjerić, where she first saw the light of day in 1905”. She mainly painted flowers, Belgrade and Dubrovnik sceneries, landscapes, portraits, and still lifes; she also worked in drawing and mosaic. The Memorial Collection preserves three of her works – Flowers (1951), View of Belgrade (1953), and Sunflowers (1961) – which will also serve as the focus of the planned museum creative workshops. Workshop participants will be able to experiment with various artistic techniques.
The practical part of the programme starts at The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection, after which art educators will continue their work with children in kindergartens. Next year, the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection will host an exhibition of the children’s final works, along with a supporting program.
