“Sava Šumanović and Realisms in Europe”

The painting of Sava Šumanović (1896–1942) almost entirely belongs to the period between the two world wars. His paintings or entire cycles confirm his immediate involvement in the essential formative stages of Modernism in Europe which are considered fundamental for the reception of European influences in Serbia and Yugoslavia. The exhibition author, Milana Kvas, will provide visitors with the context of their creation concerning the circumstances in the European, especially Parisian, art scene at the time.
