NEW OBJECTIVITY IN SERBIAN ART DURING THE 1960s
Monday, 26th February, 1:00 p.m.
The promotion of The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection’s latest edition, “New Objectivity in Serbian Art During the 1960s” by art historian Katarina Simeunović, is scheduled on Monday, February 26th, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade (Miodrag B. Protić Hall), due to the current adaptation of the Memorial Collection space. The book is based on the master’s thesis of Katarina Simeunović, for which she received The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection Award in 2021. The visitors at the promotion will be addressed by the publication editor, Milana Kvas MA, the reviewers, prof. dr. Simona Čupić, prof. emer. Irina Subotić, as well as the author of the book. In 2020, The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection launched a special art edition titled “New Perceptions” which promotes methodological, scientifically grounded and the latest perspectives on the history and theory of art and art criticism. The reason behind publishing a master’s thesis dedicated to the new objectivity in Serbian art by Katarina Simeunović in 2023, whose mentor was prof. Simona Čupić, is also to recognize the significance of The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection Award as an encouragement for young art historians.
