TOURING EXHIBITION ALTERNATIVE VERSION OF CUCA SOKIĆ: DRAWINGS
The Museum in Smederevo
Friday, 6 February 2026, 6 p.m.
The exhibition Alternative Version of Cuca Sokić: Drawings opens on Friday, 6th February 2026, at 6 p.m. at The Museum in Smederevo, just days after its tour in the National Library of Serbia (20th November 2025 – 1st February 2026). It was developed in 2024 through a collaboration between The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection and the National Library of Serbia to mark the 110th anniversary of the artist’s birth, and was first presented to the Novi Sad audience at the Memorial Collection. The exhibition curators are Milana Kvas MA, museum advisor, and Gorana Stevanović, library advisor, who were awarded a special recognition by the Association of Applied Artists and Designers of Serbia for the exhibition’s concept and catalogue at last year’s 68th International Belgrade Book Fair. The project coordinator at The Museum in Smederevo is Snežana Cvetković PhD, museum advisor.
The exhibition features 143 drawings donated generously by the Gatalović family, who gifted over 800 works on paper by academician Ljubica Cuca Sokić to the National Library of Serbia and The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection. These works offer a fresh perspective on the artist’s remarkable creative personality. The exhibition, which will be on view until 1st March 2026, was made possible by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, the Provincial Secretariat for Culture, Public Information, and Religious Community Relations, and the City of Smederevo.
