TOUCH AND FEEL Tactile exhibition from the collection of Pavle Beljanski in Zagreb
Typhlological Museum, Zagreb (Croatia)
29 April – 25 May, 2025

On Tuesday, 29th April, at 5 p.m., the Typhlological Museum in Zagreb will host the ceremonial opening of the tactile exhibition Touch and Feel, presented by The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection. The exhibition was created to offer visitors with acquired or congenital disabilities (blind and visually impaired) the opportunity to experience some of the iconic artworks from the Novi Sad collection for the first time through this “sensory” display. The exhibition features a selection of ten items—replicas and versions that faithfully represent the originals—including eight works by artists represented in the Pavle Beljanski Collection: Sreten Stojanović, Risto Stijović, Mihajlo Tomić, Vlaho Bukovac, Milan Konjović, Sava Šumanović, Milica Zorić, and Mališa Glišić, aiming to highlight their diversity in both psychological and formal expression. The exhibition includes an audio guide, Braille labels, and legends specially adapted for visually impaired visitors. In this way, some of the most significant works from the collection are interpreted through the sense of touch, connecting artists and visitors with visual impairments. This ongoing initiative helps raise social awareness of the need to adapt museum spaces and programmes for audiences with disabilities. The exhibition project was made possible by the Provincial Secretariat for Culture, Public Information, and Relations with Religious Communities
