Due to great interest, the exhibition Alternative Version of Cuca Sokić: Drawings at The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection has been extended until 9th February 2025. After The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection, the exhibition is set to open on 28th February at the National Library of Serbia in Belgrade.

The exhibition is a collaborative project between The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection and the National Library of Serbia, conceived to showcase a large number of previously unknown works by Ljubica Cuca Sokić, created alongside her most famous paintings. The exhibition curators are Milana Kvas MA, museum advisor and Director of The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection, and Gorana Stevanović, library advisor for the Graphic Art Collection and Fine Art Collection at the National Library of Serbia. The exhibition showcases a selection of 182 drawings, based on a donation from the Gatalović family, who gifted over 800 Ljubica Cuca Sokić’s works on paper to The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection and the National Library of Serbia. These drawings serve as valuable study material that is significant for examining the artist’s entire body of work. The exhibition aims to present her exceptional talent for art from a new perspective, as well as to express gratitude to the Gatalović family, whose long-term donations of Ljubica Sokić’s works, to both institutions, have contributed to the preservation, study, and promotion of the national cultural heritage.

It features a selection of 86 works from The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection centred around the “Cartoons” series, which reveals the range of Cuca Sokić’s creative interests. The selection from the National Library of Serbia includes 90 works. The drawings are organized into thematic units that include animal motifs, portraits and figures of women, men, and children, as well as historical costumes.
