GRAND OPENING OF THE PAVLE BELJANSKI MEMORIAL COLLE
Tuesday, 18 June, 08:00 PM
On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 8 PM, The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection will host a grand reopening to celebrate Pavle Beljanski’s birthday (June 19, 1892 – July 14, 1965). The collection had been closed to visitors due to the complete adaptation of the exhibition rooms on the upper floor and the entrance hall of the building.
The adaptation of the exhibition room on the ground floor of the Memorial Collection, completed in 2022, and the adaptation of the rooms on the upper floor, have ensured the most up-to-date museological conditions for the proper preservation and display of museum items, as well as an enjoyable experience for visitors.
The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection building, designed by architect Ivo Kurtović, represents Serbia’s first purpose-built museum space and as such, it was declared a cultural monument in 1992. Its donor, diplomat and collector Pavle Beljanski, bequeathed his 20th-century artworks collection to the Serbian people through a special Gift Agreement with the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina on November 18, 1957. Together with this collection, the building of the Memorial Collection forms a functional and harmonious body.
The adaptation of the rooms on the upper floor and the entrance hall of the building was fully funded by the Provincial Government, the founder of The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection.
